Outdoor kitchen in South Hampshire
Surrounded by beds of giant feather grass, catmint, buxus, and wheatgrass, this Grillo outdoor kitchen sits in a South Hampshire garden designed by Neil Jones Design. With a canopy overhead that spotlights the straight-run kitchen, each carefully considered zone of the garden flows into the next, using both tiling and furniture to gently partition the garden.
From indoors, the occupants remain connected to the garden. Open the doors to a view from the oak interior kitchen that stretches the length of the garden. And, as you look out, scattered touches of wood soften the bolder design choices – from oak kitchen to oak tree.

“As part of a project to remodel the house, the back of the house was opened to create a truly inside out living space and together with the creation of a large garden room to the side for work and entertaining the garden space become a key focus to compliment the alfresco living vibe.
Neil Jones Design created a series of connected spaces that supported casual seating next to the house, with outdoor dining and covered outdoor kitchen beyond. A change in level down the garden was utilised to create a sunken firepit seating area off the dining terrace. The garden then leads on to a generous lawn and a more informal and verdant part of the garden.
The layout promotes a seamless flow between house, garden and garden room, with strong visual and physical links, complimented by a tonal materials palette of natural, warm hues against a striking black clad garden room. The careful siting of feature lighting ensures the gardens use after dark, with the sunken firepit seating providing the perfect after diner destination.” – Neil Jones Design
