outdoor kitchen ideas: the best of 2024
This is Outdoor Kitchen Ideas: The Best of 2024, the second edition of our annual outdoor kitchen project compilation. We’ve installed hundreds of outdoor kitchens this year, creating thousands of memories. Now we want to share our favourite projects with you, to get you dreaming about your outdoor space.
The best outdoor kitchens of 2024. It’s a packed field this year, so without further ado:
1. Most Classy
There were many kitchens that could be put here. But we had to choose one… A tidier example of a well thought-out, well executed garden renovation is hard to imagine.

2. Best Bar
You’ve surely never seen a better view from a bar… Go and stay at Cabins in the Clouds for a true departure from day-to-day life. Just look at the pictures…

3. Most Aussie
Blue skies, check. Turquoise waters, check. Palm trees, check. Beers, check. Now fire up the BBQ.

4. Highest
Ok, so I haven’t actually done the math on this, but it’s definitely one of the higher installs we’ve completed this year. With unobstructed views across London, it’s also one of the more memorable.

5. Best Before & After
This awesome charity had a huge make over. And it wasn’t complete without a Grillo outdoor kitchen! Thanks BBC DIY SOS.

6. Remotest
The outdoor living area is unique and quite brilliant, and then there’s the view… The view beyond most BBQs is 30cm to the garden fence; here it’s 30 miles, reaching to the distant forested peaks of the Barrington Tops National Park. The Hunter Valley floor stretches out like a rumpled carpet at your feet.

7. Most Travelled
This is Grill Rover’s Australian cousin. Grill Cruiser has been making light work of the 10 hour commute between Sydney and Melbourne. Which is the equivalent of driving from London to Hamburg, i.e. practically next door in Australian terms.

8. Best Indoors/Outdoors
This accolade could only really go to one project – the one where a grand piano and Grillo kitchen sit side-by-side. Unusual stablemates, sure. But then this Grand Designs project is not the average house.

9. Best Holiday Home
We’ve long said that an outdoor kitchen is like a holiday in your back garden. This, then, is a holiday within a holiday; a holiday Russian doll, if you will.

10. Most English, feat. Yorkshire
We love this fine property, constructed from local Millstone Grit. Situated in the Yorkshire spa town of Ilkley, it’s a testament to the owner’s good taste in its skillful juxtaposition of traditional architecture and contemporary garden styling.

11. Best Use of a Small Space
Not everyone wants a large outdoor kitchen. It might look simple, but we really like this small layout in Turramurra, NSW. Tucked away in the hedgeline, it’s there when you need it, but doesn’t take over the limited space.

12. Most Famous
Ainsley’s National Trust Cook Off was a hit in 2024. Ainsley brought his characteristic flamboyant style (and shirts!) but we think the kitchen stole the show.

13. Best of ’23 Revisited
A garden is for life, not just for Christmas. The garden at this property in Stoke D’Abernon was impressive when we first saw it, but it’s transformed now the plantings have matured two years on.
