A FIRESIDE CHAT WITH TIM HORNER
Tim Horner is an Aussie garden designer who has lived and worked in Great Britain for 25 years, and has been using Grillo in his projects for 5 years. We sat down with him to discuss all things outdoor living and outdoor kitchens, listen in below!
Tim Horner, on garden design and outdoor living
“People are starting to become much more aware that they need to integrate their internal space with the outside space. So when we are designing gardens, a lot of what we do in those early design stages is coming up with a list of needs and wants, and a big ticket item for us has been the outdoor kitchen – and has been for the last 10 years! It’s all about these big blockbuster outdoor living spaces. People want to want to be out in their gardens, doing what they do inside – but outside.
Grillo has been a real winner for us because the appearance is just super sleek. And it’s unfussy. It matches in with pretty much any design style that we’re trying to achieve. All the materials are super tough and designed to be outside. And the grey porcelain worktops are really easy to take care of. And that neutral colour scheme with the nice sleek lines has worked in with any design that we do.”
An Aussie’s take on British design
“I’ve lived out here in the UK for 25 years now, but I get back to Australia quite a lot. And I’m noticing more and more that the garden design style in Australia is really starting to emulate and bring in these European design ideas.
I think Australian people – in fact, people all over the world – have a real association with British-made, British-tough, you know? Land Rover, Jaguar, Bentley… all those manufacturing giants really came out of Great Britain. And this is just an indication that Grillo is built strong, and super tough.
My message about Grillo to anyone in Australia thinking about buying an outdoor kitchen, is that if they’re looking for quality, check out Grillo mate, their kitchens are great. ”
